Materials and Care
How long 14k gold-filled jewelry can last depends on three things:
- What touches it: water, chlorine, chemicals from beauty products, etc.
- How often you clean it
- How you store it: more airflow = more chance for oxidization
STERLING SILVER
Solid, precious metal that lasts forever. It darkens with time, but can be polished up with a jewelry cloth. Oils from your skin help prevent silver tarnish...so wear it often!
BRASS
Brass Jewelry is an alloy that includes two metals - copper and zinc. It has a warm, and beautiful golden tone that looks almost identical to gold. Brass is the perfect affordable option for jewelry lovers - as long as it’s cared for and kept polished, brass jewelry will last forever.
Store jewelry in it's original packaging or a jewelry box that seals out light, dust particles, and moisture.
Do not wear brass jewelry in hot springs as the sulfur will cause tarnishing.
Brass naturally develops a patina, which over the course of time adds dimension, character, and beauty with age. An easy way to get the look is to avoid polishing and let oxygen & your natural body chemistry create a 'living' finish. Polish from time to time if you'd like to maintain the original shine & brightness.
Brass jewelry can discolor your skin, especially when it comes into contact with sweat or moisture, due to a chemical reaction between the metal and your skin. This reaction is normal and not harmful to your health, and the discoloration will go away on its own.
